Space Tourists, Your Chariot Awaits!
If you have the cash, a journey to the stars could await you in 2009. The spaceflight division of Richard Branson's company, Virgin Galactic, has unveiled it's new proto-type for a commercial spaceship that will carry tourists to the stars.SpaceShipTwo is the actual space vessel with White Knight Two serving as the the plane that will carry it high enough into the atmosphere to launch itself. SpaceShipTwo has the capacity to carry eight people at a time into sub-orbit, two pilots and six passengers, each of whom will pay $200,000 for the right to be one of the few humans to see the earth from above.
The White Knight Two is already almost complete, with testing scheduled for later this year, while SpaceShipTwo is about 60% complete. The flights will take off from the Spaceport that Virgin Galactic is building in the New Mexico desert.Some very cool additional pics are available at Gizmodo. . .

I'll lay odds if I take that Virgin Galactic flight, they'll lose my luggage....and they won't land on schedule. It's the story of my life.
