Taliban attacks U.S. in Afghanistan

Dateline - A country or two EAST of Iraq

A group of 75 Taliban militants tried to overrun a U.S.-led coalition base in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, a rare frontal attack that left more than 20 militants dead, the coalition said in a statement. The insurgents attacked Firebase Anaconda from three sides, using gunfire, grenades and 107 mm rockets, the coalition said. A joint Afghan-U.S. force repelled the attack with mortars, machine guns and air support.

Taliban. WHY does that name seem familiar? OH yeah, those were the people who were supporting and shielding Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaida. YOU know. . .that group of Saudi nationals who hit us on 9-11. And were based in Afghanistan. None of whom had surnames of Hussein. Who weren't even (still aren't) allowed in Iraq. . .Good thing we finished the job of eliminating their presence in Afghanistan so we could go fight them over there in Iraq, where they never were, so that we didn't hafta fight them over here, where they were before we safely flew them out of the country after the 9-11 attack and back to Saudi Arabia, the country who's hand is firmly planted up the ass of the Bush administration! (taking a deep breath)

A direct attack on a U.S. or NATO base by insurgents on foot is relatively rare. More often insurgents fire rockets at bases and flee. Military officials say that Taliban fighters know they can't match Western militaries in a heads-up battle, which leads the insurgents to more often rely on roadside and suicide bombs. "The inability of the insurgent forces to inflict any severe damage on Firebase Anaconda, while being simultaneously decimated in the process, should be a clear indication of the ineffectiveness of their fighters," said Army Capt. Vanessa R. Bowman, a coalition spokeswoman.

Looky here, 'Nessa. . .the fact that these assholes are emboldened enough by our lack of ability to "finish the job" in Afghanistan, due to the Bush Crime Family's oil crusade in Iraq, to actually attack us against overwhelming odds merely reinforces how wrong and misdirected our attack and occupation of Iraq was. There were NO Al Quaida in Iraq before we removed the Saddam Hussein from power there - they were sworn enemies. We have created a void, as well as a unique training ground for these terrorists to attack our troops. When we leave, the Iraqi's will force them out of their country - they hate them more than they hate us.

Will Iraq still be a mess after we leave? YES. Will there be a civil war? THERE ALREADY IS. Will Al Quaida take over? HELL NO! That might actually be one of the very few things that Iraqis agree upon - they ALL hate Al Quaida. I guess that puts us on the same team. Imagine that. We've managed to destroy an ally. . .AND turn them against us.

Did I mention that Iran is STILL attempting to help Afghanistan despite the saber-rattling of our glorious leader? The same guy who wants to turn their country into glass? And they say that the Iranian president is the crazy one. . .I'd like to request a wake up call for 2008, please. . .

Great post, John!

I don't understand why the fact that the Iraqi's will never accept al Qaeda to stay in Iraq if we leave. They are there because of us and this is frustrating them to no end. Why are our Democratic candidates not speaking out on this?

John, I suggest you have a meeting with a few of our candidates and set them straight. ;-)

No, no, you have it all wrong. The Taliban have been defeated, don't you listen to the Decider.

He Decided that the Taliban is no more and who are we to say differently. Believe him when he says Trust Me.

Yeah right, sure I will.

God Bless.

Wake me up on Jan. 21, 2009.

IF

there were elections in November 2008, and a Democrat won.

Otherwise, just shoot me in the head.
