Why Bayh Quit - Sylvia Smith
A great read from Sylvia Smith:

If your not-so-wonderful job is a stepping stone to your ideal career, you put up with it because it’ll get you where you really want to be. If your ho-hum occupation is the only way you have to support a family, you suck it up and look for fulfillment elsewhere.
But if your sought-after career is not going to happen in the foreseeable future, and if you have other resources or talents – why hang around in a job you find dissatisfying and even distasteful?

Evan Bayh Adresses the DNC
Our own junior senator and veep runner-up, Evan Bayh, addresses the Democratic National Convention:
Bayh focused on John McCain's constant push for offshore drilling. He says "lets review the facts. White House analysts congressional analysts and the oil industry all agree that offshore drilling wont add one drop to our energy pool in 10 years." He then quoted T. Boone Pickens saying " we can't drill our way out of this crisis".
Reed says that even though know one quite knows whether offshore drilling will pollute the coastlines, he says "kindly old Doc McCain would like to sell it to ya anyway."

Nashville Post - "Bayh Will be Veep"

According to The Nashville Post, "senior campaign officials from the Barack Obama Presidential campaign are being dispatched from various locations around the country and are converging in Indianapolis for a “major event” to take place on Saturday."
This has fueled speculation that Evan Bayh may well be the VP candidate for the ticket, as Saturday is also the day that Obama is expected to make his first public appearance with his new running mate. The paper's sources in Denver, claim that individuals responsible for Obama's major public appearances have been pulled out of the city and are heading east towards Indiana.

Veep-Stakes
CBS is of the same mindset as I regarding Obama's VP selection:
Thomas Cook over at Blue Indiana offered up a contest where readers were to compete in selecting Obama's Veep choice as well as the date and time. The deadline for entries was at midnight yesterday - My choice was Evan Bayh at 1 PM on Friday. I still suspect that Joe Biden (Whom I initially supported in the primaries) may well be the pick, but I selfishly hope for Bayh for the coattails he would bring to the Hoosier state. Honestly, I'd be thrilled with either of the two, but I think Evan on the ticket would nearly ensure a statewide clean sweep for Democrats. We shall see. . .Labels: Blue Indiana, evan bayh, Thomas Cook, veepstakes
