Teen Decapitated by Six Flags Coaster

Another horrible amusement park accident unfolded this afternoon; this time at the Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, Georgia. At 2:30 today, a teenager was decapitated by the 50 mph Batman coaster after entering a restricted area around the attraction:

Park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said in a news release the 17-year-old scaled two six-foot fences that were clearly marked with signs that read "Danger" and "Do Not Enter."

"We do not know why this person was intent on gaining access to this restricted area," Sheth said. She did not identify the teenager.

"Some witnesses have stated that the individual was trying to retrieve something he had lost. Others reported that he was trying to touch the ride. This is merely speculation at this point, and we are working with park visitors and local police to learn more."

In May 2002, 58-year-old groundskeeper Samuel Milton Guyton of Atlanta was killed after he wandered in a restricted area under the Batman roller coaster's path and was struck in the head by the dangling leg of one of the ride's passengers. The ride was closed for a day to allow the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration to inspect the ride. It was deemed safe for passengers.

Last year, a teenager's legs were severed when cables snapped on the Superman Tower of Power ride at the Louisville, Kentucky Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Doctors were able to reattach Kaitlyn Lasitter's right foot, but she had to have some of her left leg amputated and subsequent surgeries.

Eagle Ray kills Woman

An unidentified Michigan woman died in a freak accident today off of the Florida Keys. The woman, 55, was sunbathing on a small boat when a large eagle ray jumped onto the craft and landed on her. Conflicting reports state either that the 80-100 pound ray crushed her or caused her to strike her head, or that the ray stung her in the neck.

Eagle Rays are common in the waters off South Florida and the Keys. They normally live close to the coast in depths of 3 to 60 feet and in exceptional cases they are found as deep as 900 feet.

These rays can grow extremely large; up to 17 feet in length with a wingspan of up to 10 feet. They also have a long tail which is armed with sharp barb, it looks like a whip and may be as long as the body.

Texan puts toddler in dryer

This guy needs some serious mental help - I haven't heard if he was under the influence of anything or not, but either way. . .

Powered by AOL Video

I actually endured this at the age of 5. Many of you may recall that back in the sixties, dryers operated in much the same manner as the washing machine - open the lid it stops, close the lid and it starts right back up. There's a reason why they changed that switch method! I had gone down to the basement, grabbed our cat, and set down on the open lid of the dryer to pet her. Apparently, I fell backwards into the dryer, which resumed it's unfinished cycle!

Needless to say, my Mom heard the banging and howling and extricated us post haste! Next time I'll tell you about my encounter with the electric fence that same summer. . .;)
