I've been lucky enough to have a good relationship with the people at Senator Lugars' Ft Wayne office, but it looks like I'm going to be spending some time on the telephone with them tomorrow..... and all the other offices.

What exactly is democratic about stifling debate? Did Senator Lugar not take an oath to protect the Constitution? IS THAT WHAT SENATOR LUGAR IS? Someone who cares more about political maneuvering than American citizens & Iraqi civilians DYING because of a case of "If We Lose I'll Be Neutered"itis?

It may be time to start seriously looking for a Democratic opponent for Senator Lugar in '08. He obviously is insulated from the will of his constituents.

NO MORE TROOPS!!!! NO MORE DEATH!!!!
"CAPTURE, BUILD AND HAND IT OVER!!!!!"

NOW.

There is no excuse for Elkhart, take my word for it. It is a HORRIBLY destitute area... except for the really rich areas. The poor people don't vote, and the rich ones do twice.

I have an uncle there, and he's one of the rich ones. I'm truly sorry.

It's the "po" folk that concern me. . .I think they've been marketed to (read "fleeced") so well by WOWO and and it's comparable outlets that they truly beleive a vote for Bush is a vote for their best interests. We know that the opposite is true. . .these are the people we need to reach out to and inform!

When I lived in Miami, I lived in Coconut Grove- very similiar, in that it was very very rich on top of very very poor.
As you said, the very very poor just gave up. Didn't vote at all.
I remember when I voted there (once), the beemers & caddys clogged the street. So much for "one man, one vote".

My point isn't that they've given up, but that they've been brainwashed. Bush talks like a common man by destroying the English language and appealing to the lowest common denominators to grab support for his misguided ideas. Sort of in the "religion is an opiate of the masses" kind of way. . .at least to the country-music listening, beer-drinking, Nascar-loving, working-class poor. . .

I think its way past time for Reid to kick Judas Iscariot Leiberman out of the Democratic Caucas.

To start with he is not an Independent Democrat, but an Independent Connetitcut for Leiberman.

Secondly, we all know he's a Nazi Collaborator Republican so lets stop fooling the rest of the Democratic Party and kick his ass out of all committe chairmenships and put a real Democrat in them.

We need to let Reid know we will not put up with having a Traitor sitting in on Democratic Caucases so he can pass the information gained from them back to his fellow Nazi's.

If Reid don't do something soon I say we work to remove him from office in 2008 if there still are elections.

God Bless.

He can't kick Lieberman out or he'd just caucus w/ the Republicans and then they'd have the majority.

What we need is a "Lieberman-proof" majority. If we can win 2 or 3 more seats in 2008 then Lieberman will be irrelevant and we can move him to the back of the line...

Jeff - With Joey already in their pocket, and Senator Johnson still on the mend, they DO have the majority. But you are right; we need to pick up at least 10 of the 33 seats in play in '08 to reach a fillibuster-proof majority.

Sen. Lugar would be a real challenge to unseat. His behind the scenes power is immense. I remember when President Marcos was holed up in the Palace by the Mobs of Aquino supporters and others. It was Sen. Lugar who called Marcos up, and told him in effect to step down (The Reagan Administration would not support him further). That was a ways ago. I can only imagine his Power has grown. In which case all I can say is,

SIC 'EM!
