Fireworks Fallout

Many people have voiced concerns over the recent change to Indiana's fireworks laws. The overwhelming majority appear to oppose the changes allowing the sale and legal discharge of all fireworks to the general public, even though this was typically done in the past through the "signed waiver" process. For those of you who are from out of state or have been living in a cave, Indiana residents could purchase illegal/out-of-state fireworks by signing a waiver stating that they will "not discharge them inside the State of Indiana", which was still illegal to do. This law was widely ignored by citizens and law enforcement officials.

Today's Fort Wayne Journal Gazette posted an entire page of
letters to the editor in opposition to the new law.

The administrator of The
Fort Wayne Forum has expressed his disapproval on that site as well.

Now we'd like to hear your opinion. ou will find a new online poll on this issue in the sidebar to the right. Please vote and let us know how you feel about this law.

Ah yes, the all-important fireworks debate. The JG will go ahead and waste a full page on that but refuse to print an editorial (mine or anyone else's) or story about net neutrality. I mean how important could THAT be?

Kudos to Leo and the NS for printing my letter in yesterday's paper. Is it just me or does anyone else think the JG editorial page is a waste of space just like Tracy's blog was?

Leo's a stand-up kind of guy (imho), and I noticed that whenever I try to get a letter to the editor published, the NS does a better job than the JG, although I have been published in both.

To me, it's just that the carrier that delivers the JG is a LOT more dependable than any of those that deliver the NS. I still follow the NS religiously, though (bloody zealot).

Must be the fact that SO many where I live can barely read or write in the first place...being a paperboy on MY block is easy...TWO HOUSES (out of about TEN)...that's it...LOL!

Must not be much teenager left in me. Outlaw them. They are dangerous.
'course Indianaites can do whatever. They are your kids. What's a few more hands mutilated? The Lil tykes won't need'em to work any manufacturing jobs any way since they won't be any left. One hand will do as a WALMART greeter. Besides better get mutilated at home, then some forsaken battlefield half a world away.
Peace.
