Brooklyn Surprise

The discovery of a cache of cold war supplies inside the foundations of the Brooklyn Bridge has prompted an outpouring of interest from some historians and curators, but city officials are still at loss to explain how the supplies got there and for whom they were intended.

Workers found the stockpile of water drums, medical supplies, gauze bandages and bitter-tasting ration crackers in a cavernous masonry room under the bridge's main entrance ramp in Lower Manhattan, while performing a regular structural inspection on March 15.

How 'regular' must these inspections be if they JUST found stuff from WWII era? LOL only in New Yuck.

Oh no, not just in New York.

You have no idea how much money various government programs waste on things...

I'VE got a pretty damned good idea, Mike AND Andrew. And I also know how much waste and beaurocracy(sp) that the Clinton/Gore administration cleaned out of it.You are DEAD RIGHT, Mike. Bush and his pals are BIG GOVERNMENT, BUDGET BUSTING, DEVIL MAY CARE, FUCK OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURES, IRRESPONSIBLE ASSHOLES! Even most Republicans are FINALLY seeing this, and recent polls are showing it.
I know you feel that Dems and Reps are both guilty of being spendthrifts but, MY GOD, compare THIS White House to Bill Clinton's and see what you get in terms of fiscal responsiblity!
Maybe Bush NEEDS to get a BJ every now and then. But I don't really think that's the case. It's more a complete lack of seperation of corporation and state here. Squeeze out the middle class by exporting the good-paying jobs, and import cheap immigrant labor to perform what's left.
You are then left with a rich elitist class who can bully those who were middle class by tossing them whatever lackey jobs are available. Because they MUST feed their families, at any cost. That's basic human nature. Because most of are good humans, and feeding our families is a priority. One that we will stoop to any low to achieve. It's sad that we may have to.

John...don't even cross the line into Donkey Apologism. Politicians are politicians and they all STINK OF IRRESPONSIBILITY. The Dems woulnd't spend any less money than Bush has, they would just spend it in different places. The Federal Government can't seem to help themselves when it comes to spending our money on crap that nobody wants or needs....and THAT is a bi-partisan effort.
And SERIOUSLY don't try to tell me Clinton balanced the budget...we all know damn well they forgot to figure in all the MONEY THEY STOLE FROM SOCIAL SECURITY when they started blowing the trumpets of victory. They are ALL crooks. Un-elect them all, as far as I'm concerned.

Andrew, Bush has taken no less from SS than Clinton or any other administration, and look at the mess our economyis in and the size of the national debt. He is utterly imcompetent.
At least Democrats tax and spend, Bush has spent while giving away tax cuts. He is completely inept, and hellbent on destroying the middle class in our country. That'd be you and me.

So it was OK for Clinton to do it since he knew Bush was going to?

Just checking.
