Dick Cheney Indicted in Texas

A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers. From KRGV-TV News Channel 5:

Appearing at a Fort Worth rally yesterday, Hillary Clinton erroneously blamed Texas for spawning George W. Bush and releasing him upon America. The senator stated that "Texans have a chance to make up for giving America George W. Bush". Sorry, Hill. Do some research before you make another wild claim like that - the people of his TRUE birthplace have already publicly apologized for him:

Hillary Losing Hispanic Vote

Hillary Clinton was finally declared the winner of the New Mexico primary yesterday, after a nine day nightmare of hand counting 17,000 provisional votes in the state. For all of the trouble she picked up ONE additional delegate - I guess that may have been cheaper than Mitt Romney's!

And, much like Julie Rudiani, Hill is placing all of her eggs into one basket - the OH, TX, PA trifecta in a few weeks- as her final stand. How fitting that the Alamo is located in one of those states! Oddly enough, she may suffer the same fate as those brave defenders of yesteryear, AND from the very same folks - the Mexicans.

See, Hillary received the majority of hispanic votes in the earlier primary contests. That percentage has steadily declined, however, and was NOT improved by her firing of a top campaign official who happened to be hispanic herself. I can't speak for Pennsylvania, but I'm pretty damned sure that Texas has a large Mexican population and Ohio shares Indiana's growing hispanic populace due to a need for cheap farm labor.

Hillary focuses on Texas - coincidence?

A federal appeals court has overturned a Texas statute outlawing sex toy sales, leaving Alabama as the state with the strictest ban on such devices.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Texas law making it illegal to sell or promote obscene devices, punishable by up to two years in jail, violated the Constitution's 14th Amendment on the right to privacy. In its decision Tuesday, the appeals court cited Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court's 2003 opinion that struck down bans on consensual sex between gay couples.

"Just as in Lawrence, the state here wants to use its laws to enforce a public moral code by restricting private intimate conduct," the appeals judges wrote. "The case is not about public sex. It is not about controlling commerce in sex. It is about controlling what people do in the privacy of their own homes because the state is morally opposed to a certain type of consensual private intimate conduct. This is an insufficient justification after Lawrence."

Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama were the only three states that continued to outlaw the sale of sex toys and vibrators.Va. . err. .Virginia has a law barring obscene items, but it does not seem to apply to sex toy sales. Louisiana, Kansas and Colorado all had laws barring obscene devices that have been struck down. And the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down a Georgia law banning the advertising of sex toys, which can be sold under some approved circumstances.
