Charlton Heston has died at 84

NRA advocate and epic actor Charlton Heston died today at the age of 84. He had suffered from symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease for the last several years. Surprisingly enough, this former president of the Screen Actors Guild and chairman of the American Film Institute marched in the civil rights movement of the 1950s before age and bitterness turned him to more conservative causes. He engaged in a lengthy feud with liberal Ed Asner during the latter's tenure as president of the Screen Actors Guild. His latter-day activism almost overshadowed his achievements as an actor, which were considerable.
