Simon Rios Takes the 'Easy out"

Simon Rios, pictured at left with the family that he murdered, hung himself in his Pendleton Correctional Facility cell early this morning. That was far better an end than this monster deserved, and likely far better than he would have received if other inmates had gotten a chance at him.

Rios was in a cell by himself and used bed sheets to hang himself. Prison officials stated that Rios had expressed a fear of attacks by other inmates. He should have lived a long life with that constant fear in his head and heart; still not punishment enough for the hurt he inflicted upon at least four families and our community as a whole.

In case there's any chance that you have forgotten, Rios killed his entire family five days after kidnapping, raping, and killing a neighbor's child, Alejandra Gutierrez (At left). This monster abducted her from her bus stop and drove her to Delaware County to commit his heinous acts.
