Despite Image Gains, Dem Leadership Continues to fail We The People

These numbers all show slow and steady improvement, as they well should. However, Democratic leadership is still completely out of step with the will of the American people. We the people elected you in a clear mandate one year ago with some specific goals in mind. Among those goals were: holding this administration accountable and ending the debacle in Iraq.

While I am happy that you now have and have used the power of the gavel to ever-so-slowly lift the large slimy rock of secrecy that has cloaked the abuses of these cronies and their butt-lickers over the last 7 years, I and the vast majority of citizens who elected you to be our agents of change, are furious over your lack of resolve in checking George W. Bush and Dick Cheney when it comes to Iraq!

Ms.Pelosi, if you actually follow through on today's threatened action regarding further funding (or UNfunding if you will) of this military action, then you will at least have started moving in the right direction. Your actions thus far have left me little hope for this, however, and it has grown more and more difficult for myself and my peers to place much trust nor value in the strong words that pass from your lips.

On another note, Dennis Kucinich ( Who really IS an advocate for We The People) has actually gotten his measure to impeach Dick Cheney through the house and into committee, yet, for some strange and unknown reasons, Mr.Conyers has also developed a bad case of the shivers. More to the point, he is acting as if his testicles are in someone's iron grip. This is the very same Mr.Conyers who was instrumental in the release of the Downing Street Memo. The Conyers that has dogged this administration long before it ever became publicaly or politically popular to do so.

We The People have lots and lots of questions on these matters, Nance! What are you, Harry Reid, Conyers, et al, so afraid of? Does this administration have blackmail dirt on all of you? Are you more concerned about the 2008 election than the good of our country? Or are you just so completely out of touch with middle America that you actually think we are with you on these misguided and HORRIBLY WRONG stances?

We The People await your response. . .

problem is - from where i'm sitting - we the people never had a chance with big biz in the picture - of getting our will known to democrats nor republicans...

now take them out and we'll have half a chance...IMHO

People see what they see and too few actually look.

To look is to investigate, to search for understanding and to be aware of what really is.

When we get beyond the conditioned advertising that surrounds us, we just might understand what is happening.

Fear.

As both AzG and Roger point out, there are Huge Advantages to ignoring the reality that Bu$hCo is flagrantly violating both U.S. laws and the tenets of the U.S. Constitution. The problem is figuring out how to make "doing the right thing" beneficient to the Profit takers in our Economy.

If someone can explain this procedure then the Congress Critters who know better (such as Pelosi & Conyers, etc...) will do what they know they should have been doing all along. They won't until they're sure it won't somehow stifle the U.S. economy.

Cowardly they be, though in a conscientious kinda way. {sigh}

I have very little faith in the two party system has it now works. The fatcat money guys run both of them. Publically financed elections will be the only way to restore power to the voters, and the Supreme Court made that almost impossible without a Constitutional Amendment.

Good post however :)

AZ - We need to work towards replacing the "corpocrosy candidates" over time.

Roger - People, often myself included, tend to get stuck in patterns and routines and lose sight of what is really going on around them.

MB - BushCo has already been allowed to destroy nearly everything they've wanted to. I'm not sure there's much left to fear.

Dusty - Then perhaps we should all be working towards an ammendment!

This amendment would require two thirds or three fourths of the states approval I believe..and that means the fatcat money guys would throw everything they had at such an endeavor.

Sort of like the equal rights amendment..and we know how that one turned out.

Dusty - Well then, short of taking up arms and storming the castle, what do we do about it?

Well John, since we are splintered as a nation and have other trumped-up problems to deal with..like the war on "terrah"..and real problems to deal with..like the disappearing middle-class and corporate welfare, I think it kinda takes a back seat in most folks minds. But I could be wrong :P
