Careful. Acetone also affects the little rubber O-rings. You may get more mileage but you may end up with a repair as well.
Thanks, Nando. I was hoping for some feedback on this one.
Ditto Fernando. And "too much for too long" doesn't have to happen very long, and you're looking at a four digit repair bill. Sure as heck, somebody will pour in the acetone on a blazing hot summer day, with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth. It will be the last time.:) Note on the video...."and is very flammable."
His other tips were good, except for one: take the spare tire out. I have road service too - but they don't come out on flat tire calls with a new tire mounted on a new rim.:) They gotta have something to put back on the car. Tire inflation is very important - both to mileage, and your personal safety.
I also wonder about the emissions associated with burning acetone. It is a carcinogen, after all. But then...so is octane.
The other tips...excellent.
I wouldn't try the acetone. I just got done spending a thousand dollars on my car because it wouldn't start properly. After replacing the entire fuel system and battery, I was told it was probably "bad gas". Too bad, because the acetone may just work!
For me, all I have to do is trade down from my Cadillac and I will double my gas mileage :)
Stan - Don't count on it!! =(
