Dody Goodman has died at 92
Rest in Peace, "Blanche":
Dody Goodman, whose ditzy comic persona was well known to patrons of theater, film and television from the 1950s on, died yesterday at the Actors Fund Home in New Jersey. Her age was beleived to be 92, though the subject of her birthdate was something she was known to falsify throughout her career.
Ms.Goodman was a regular on The Tonight Show with both Jack Parr and, later, Johnny Carson. Her best known roles to most were those of Martha Shumway in the widely praised, albeit short-lived, mock soap opera "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," and the much-commented-upon supporting turn as Blanche Hodel in the film version of "Grease." She was also a semi-regular on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes".
