Randi Rhodes leaves Air America

Talker lands on her feet at Green 960:

John Scott, Program Director of Green960, speaks out:

"We have been very frustrated the past few days in our efforts to rectify the Randi Rhodes Situation (her suspension by her network, Air America Radio). It is our understanding that today (April 9th) she is no longer an employee of Air America. So we are bringing her back."

Monday, April 14th at 4pm... it will be our pleasure to announce the return of Randi Rhodes to the Green 960 family.

Watch the video below that chronicles the timeline of the circus, and our efforts to do what's right for the vast majority of Green960 listeners that support her.

The Facts

Comments made by Randi Rhodes were made during a Green 960 Event on March 22nd. Those in attendance were required to sign up through Green960.com and paid $5 to attend. Money raised went to Green960.

This event took place at Broadway Studios in San Francisco on Saturday, March 22nd.
Green960's event was posted on My.BarackObama.com's event listings by a listener of the station as a social meetup & is no way affiliated with Barack Obama's presidential campaign. The $5 collected was for Green960.

The entire video of the event was made available through Green960 to our listeners and Randi Rhodes fans on March 26th.

I'm glad she left Air America and feel bad that another progressive radio station picked her up. Randi has shown herself to be un-professional and crass and not who I would want to represent me as a liberal or a "progressive" liberal, whatever that is supposed to mean these days. I stopped listening to her long before the primary election for one simple reason, she was out of control. I would hear her scream at people who called in that didn't agree with her and then after hanging up on them, go into a disgusting tirade, calling them stupid and idiotic. It made me sick and reminded me of many of the talk show hosts of the right wing faction. Honestly, I thought this woman was in need of meds, and after seeing the video of her performance, I believe that more than ever.

Those who say that she had a right to voice these things because of free speech is full of bullshit. With free speech comes responsibility, and Air America had every right to suspend her, in fact, they should have fired her on the spot. Air America's logo was plastered on the wall behind her...she was in a sense speaking for them. If I worked for a company and said anything like she said while at a speaking engagement, they would have every right to fire me. What is worse, she was representing Barack Obama, this event was advertised on his website. This behavior by Obama supporters only makes Hillary supporters more likely not to vote for him in the general election.

Progressive radio is nothing more than the equivalent of hate right wing radio these days, thanks to people like Randi Rhodes.

I have no feeling one way or the other about Ms. Rhodes diatribe about Hillary.

But after reading Mary Ellen's comment above..I tend to agree with Mary Ellen. We have to rise above the bullshit type of Limbaughesque crap that the right is known for.

Offtopic..please give me a report on Hobbes..I have thought of him every day..

Dusty (and Mary Ellen) - Agreed. Randi did sometimes go over the top.

Frederick - Seder's still there. Two newer names that I didn't like at first but now do: Ed Schultz and Lionel. I still miss The Young Turks. . .the old standbys are still on at night when I'm tuned out: Thom Hartmann, Rachel Maddow, and Mike Malloy.
